WIC

The WIC program is a Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children under 5 (WIC) which serves about half of all infants born in the US. It provides federal grants to states for supplemental goods, health care referrals, and nutrition education for low-income pregnant, breastfeeding and non-breastfeeding postpartum women, infants and children under 5 who are considered to be at nutritional risk.

Applications are made through a local organization that acts as an agency for the program.
